Lunch Times.

When the company breaks us for a one hour lunch...
"Ugh. Why is it one hour? I want to get out of here faster! Just give us a half hour lunch so we can wrap a half hour earlier and I can get home that much sooner."

But when the company breaks us for a half hour lunch...
"Ugh. Thirty minutes? I've been running around all morning! A half hour isn't long enough to for us to get our food and run an errand and/or take a real break."

Sigh...

Best case scenario -- get in the lunch line for the half-hour break right behind the grips (because there's no fucking way to actually beat the grips to that line), then get a total of 45 minutes off when the last person goes through the line 15 minutes later… But with having to make cool the lamps and "make it safe," I can count the times I've actually been able to do that over th past (almost) forty years on the fingers of one hand...

Michael Taylor - I used to work for a lovely gaffer who'd "take one for the team" and saunter over to the catering line at a leisurely pace, making him the last man and buying us a few extra minutes for lunch. However, those days are long gone. The norm now seems to be to have a caterer so mediocre that half the crew opts to not eat the food so "last man" happens about five minutes after they call lunch. :(
