"We Mourn, We Remember, And We Will Never Stop Fighting."
April 28th is Worker's Memorial Day here in the U.S. (and Canada's Day of Mourning).
The IATSE is trying to organize a moment of silence at 1pm (EST)/ 10am (PST).
You don't have to be a union member to participate. Or be in the industry. Or even have a job. Workplace safety is something that affects everyone no matter who/where they are and I think it's something we often take for granted.
To read more about it, go here. And here. And here.
I know it's kind of late notice, but please participate if you can.

Can't agree more. Worked on a shoot, written, run and financed by two lawyers. What did they have the camera crew doing? Setting up too close to "live" tracks as passenger trains whiz by and hanging over a bridge guardrail over the same tracks. No railroad safety person, no respect for personal safety (or the law).
JD - Wow. Was this before or after Sarah Jones? I'm surprised to hear that lawyers were behind this since they're usually the first to put a stop to anything that might result in a potential lawsuit...
initially refused were told, "I'll sue you and you'll never get a job again. And I know people on both coasts!" Amtrak Police finally arrived and much arguing ensued. One of the lawyers actually called the town police, claiming they were on town property. Town police arrived en mass. Finally it was shut down. One of the lawyers was a former NJ judge.
Part of my post is missing?
Before Sarah Jones.
Those who initially refused were told......
JD - Double wow. Part of me wishes I could've been there with a bucket of popcorn.
I was very happy and somewhat relieved that I was able to be there and just watch the circus. No involvement.
Lawyers care about money, making it for themselves, saving it on behalf of their clients. In this case they were on both of the fence and would not pay the $250 for an Amtrak flagman for the day.
