It Sucks When...

... a PA thinks it's a good idea to drain the coolers right next to the generator and distro.

I have to say that's a classic.

Another good I've heard of is a DP 'trying to help', asks a bunch of PS's to break down distro while it had a load of eight 6k HMI's pulling a load on it. Now imagine a said PA on one knee with a hand on the distro box trying to pull out the neutral line. The best boy kicked the PA away in time to not kill them self.

I hope you can claim the same ending.

John - Other than getting an earful from production, no PAs were harmed in the making of this post.

But I bet they'll never do that again...

This has been happening as long as I can remember -- PA's draining the coolers upstream of the cable -- and it drives me fucking crazy.

As someone who started as a PA, I have endless sympathy for those doing such thankless work -- but come on, kids, use your god-damned heads and THINK before you act. Shit rolls downhill, and so does water, so please don't uncork those coolers anywhere near the cable, distro, or sandbags.

You'll get a lot more respect (and occasional help) from the grips and juicers if you remember this -- but if you forget, we'll shit all over you.

And you'll deserve it...

Ours was not as bad... sort of... I worked for a certain studio off the lot as a sound tech. They scaled back on the work so a lot of us became "will-call" techs. They called back two of us during the Olympics a few years ago, and touted the job done on the new brackets for the speaker system and the fact they did not need the expensive techs to get it done. The other tech and I both looked at the bracket, then the drawings, and had to tell the non-tech in charge all this time... "it's backwards." WHAT!!! Yea, they built it with the wrong drawing and EVERYONE who was not a tech signed off on it.
When they finally got the right part, I hear the heliocopter rental for the install was really expensive as they had already installed the grass. Of course, they fired us for bringing it to there attention. : )
