Wow, that takes me back. Can't say I recognize the foxy juicer, but that's a DC carbon arc lamp she's operating. I remember those babies very well indeed.
Michael - If you click on the picture, you get a little bit more info on the mystery lady. I've never had the pleasure of seeing a carbon arc myself, but I somehow knew exactly what it was when I saw that. I guess I'm a lighting nerd. :)
But yes, it's a great photo and a pretty inspirational one at that.
We had a half-dozen of those on the shelves when I worked at a rental house and I think L.A. guys who came to town were the only ones who ever rented them. I will admit I hated hauling them down, not to mention the big-ass stands that had to go out with them. (Hey! Loading the trucks is a lot less fun than making pretty light on set!)
